Dozing through the thunder storms

Mommy's dozing this afternoon. It's thundering like the wrath of God outside, but it's not troubling her at all. (The dog is terrified, but Mom is happily dozing and waking and then dozing again. She always did like thunder storms.)

Yesterday, she asked to get out of bed for the first time in I don't even know how long, but the timing was bad. David had an appointment. Stephan is in Virginia, and Amanda is dogsitting. So, there would have been nobody to help me lift her back into bed. I called Jeanie and told her how guilty I was feeling, and she laughed at me. She said that Mom has some sort of radar that allows her to ask to do something that you've been wanting her to do for days or weeks just when you can't help her do it. (This is like little children have.) Jeanie said that she'd be trying to get mom to something, like go outside, day after day she'd try to get her to want to do that. (If she doesn't want to do something, she won't - who can blame an eighty year old woman for that?). Anyway, Jeanie said that she'd try and try to get mom to go outside, and then, on the very day when it would be impossible to be out there with her, then she'd get all interested in going outside. I guess this is a lesson that we can't always do what we wish we could for mom. Life happens around us, and we just do our best.

  1. That's not an 80 year old woman thing ... just a woman thing! :)

    Just kidding.
