seriously interested

She just has been meditating on the
beautiful image on the front cover of this.
I took this picture this morning,
but she's been looking at this much of the day.

pretty books and pretty Mommy

So she starts laughing, and she says:
"Are you trying to get a hold of me, or something?"

She starting laughing even before I aimed the iphone

Me: "You know what's coming, don't you?"
Mom: "Yes, I do."
(also - note the chocolate milk mustache - lol)

White Christmas

Well, we don't have a white Christmas this year,
but Mom is watching Bing Crosby in the movie,
and as you can see, she still loves the movie.

binge watching MASH

Look how intently she is paying attention to MASH!
David has been binge watching with her.

But, she took time to give us a big smile :-)

Happy!

She's happy to be back in her nice bed after her shower  :-)

Reading time

Mom's sister, Bonnie, sends her a subscription to this magazine.
She really enjoys it!  She reads it for hours and hours at a time.

Can you give me a big smile?

"Can you give me a big smile?" I ask.
"I don't know," she says, yet she does.

Piggy Birds

This is what Mom looked like when I announced at around noon that the Piggy Birds had emptied their feeder again.  I filled it this morning.

Here is what she was looking at.
An empty feeder.
We have piggy birds.

Movie and Magazine. Life is good!

So, she's looking at her magazine, and I snap a picture.

Then, when the camera flashes she looks up and says:
"I saw that," in a very self satisfied "she caught me" way.

something else

Me: "Mom, I brought you a piece of chocolate cake."
Mom: "Well, this is something else."

Me: "Can you give me a big smile," and
Mom did it.  She looks very happy, doesn't she?

Doesn't think she can smile, but she still looks great!

She isn't in the best of moods after he shower.
I asked her if she could smile big for me, and
she said:  "I don't think I can."  That's the face
she makes when she doesn't think she can smile.
Isn't she beautiful!

Good Morning!

She woke so refreshed this morning!
The picture is a little dark,
but the smile is bright!

sleepy day

Sorry the pic is so blurry.  I had to turn it onto moonlight mode and I tried to hold perfectly still for the long exposure, but it's still blurry.  She's been sleeping almost this ENTIRE day.  She woke up when a couple girls from Safety for Seniors came through to give me tips about safety for mom.  They were really sweet and Mommy LOVED them - as you can imagine.  They are students at Chatham University and they volunteer with a senior safety group. They are working on physical therapy degrees.  They gifted mom with a flashlight and a smoke detector.  They would have ordered hand rails installed too if there had been any need.

At any rate, she woke up for their visit and fell asleep an hour or so afterward.  I woke her again at six for some Boost and Xarelto, and she wakes a little every time I change the hip pad from one side to the other, but she's just having a sleepy day.  I almost didn't take a pic and post it, but Mom is just so Mom when she's asleep.  I thought you'd all like to be reminded of how cute she sleeps with her mouth wide open.

Here's a pic from when Marjie and Mariah visited a few weeks ago.

Getting ready for sleep

I think she's thinking something like:
"Will you put that camera away so I can read."

Monday, December 7, 2015

Look what Marjie did!

I really feel that she's more with it.
Can't you almost see it in her eyes?

Yesterday when we watched "The House Without a Christmas Tree" Mommy told me that our tree - at that time empty of lights and ornaments - was ugly.  So, today, I put some ornaments on, and Stephan just went in the room (while I was in the kitchen), and he said, "What happened to that tree?  It was empty this morning."  And, Mommy said, "I don't know.  Marjie put all that on there today.  She did pretty good."  I'm tickled pink that Mom thinks I did a good job even if she gives the credit to my baby sister.  (Love you, Marjie)

You can see how much she loves the music!

She's watching Jimmy Stewart conducting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

They are about to give him a spontaneous, unscripted standing ovation, and I think Mom loves it as much as they did!

The Roosevelts

We're watching "The Roosevelts" a documentary by Ken Burns.
I really feel that it might be meaningful to her, that it jogs her memory.

maybe

Me: "Can you give me a big smile, Mommy?"
Mommy:  "Maybe."

After Haircut :-)

Yesterday, my friend, Nikki, came and gave mom a haircut.
Here's the after picture.
Mommy just loves Nikki.
I think Mommy can just tell what a wonderful person she is.

Happy Advent!

She's so happy today!  And, she just got her haircut.
Above is the before.
Send me a nasty message if I fail to post the after tomorrow.

Mom's stubborn ;-)

Me:  "Mommy, I'm gonna take your picture."
Mommy: "You can take it if you want, but I'm not gonna . . . "
Me (after waiting a bit): "Smile?"
Mom:  "Yes."

And, here she is stubbornly not smiling.  lol.

Sunday Dinner

I'm just setting the table for Sunday dinner, and Mommy
is looking at the Christmas village while I work.  We had
roast chicken and baked acorn squash and all kinds of yummies
for dinner.  It was good :-)

shower day

It's time for her shower, but she doesn't look very happy.
So, I ask her to smile.

Here she is explaining to me that she is not going to smile.

But, after her shower, we did get a smile when I told her that
Amanda had borrowed her curlers without asking her, and
Amanda (who just got home from work) explained that she
hadn't asked because she borrowed them at 2:00 in the morning.

picture book love

Today, on a whim, I gave her this picture book.
I just grabbed it off the shelf when I was in a hurry,
And, she has been enamored with it all day long!
The funny thing is that I gave her this same book before,
and she wasn't interested in it at all.  This time, though,
she loves it, and that makes me happy as it is one of my favorites.

In it, a baby boy is given a blanket that his grandfather made him.
As he grows, the blanket gets worn out, and the grandfather makes
the fabric into one "new" thing and then another, using the worn
and faded fabric from the blanket.  At the end, all that is left
is a covered button, which pops off and is lost.  The little boy says:
"Grandpa can fix it!"  And, his mother responds, "Even your grandfather
can't make something from nothing," and it's true.  The grandfather can't
make something from nothing.  But, the boy discovers he can,
and he writes a story.

raring to go :-)

When it was time to go out to have dinner,
she got herself all ready before I even went in.
Sometime between 5:45 - the last time I peeked in
and 6:00 . . . she got herself ready to move.
This is how I found her at 6:00, all her bedding set aside,
and her stuff bundled up in her hands.

And this is about ten minutes later at the dinner table.

Smile Face :-)

Stephan and David were talking about sports and politics.
Something one of them said got this look and smile.
